Our Story:

The IOFC Hands Team was established in 2019  to merge wide receiver skills training with athletic performance training. The Hands Team operates as part of Inside Out Fitness Concepts ("IOFC"), a personal training and athletic performance facility serving athletes in the Boston area.

Since its inception in 1996, IOFC has grown to become a second generation, family-run organization with proven success developing high school, college, and professional athletes.  Our motto is simple, we develop athletes from the inside out; preparing them mentally for the demands of life and sport, and physically through strength, conditioning, and skills training.

Hands Team athletes are provided with the opportunity to compliment their skills training with athletic performance training, all under one roof. We have a knowledgeable staff of certified personal trainers, with over 40 years of combined experience in the strength and conditioning field.

Coach Mike Sumrell

Lead WR Specialist/Owner

My name is Mike Sumrell, WR Specialist and Founder of the IOFC Hands Team. I’m a former NCAA Division II WR with 10 years of experience training WRs, and 23 years of combined playing/coaching experience.

Born and raised in Boston, MA, I began playing Pop Warner football for the Boston Raiders. I attended Belmont High School (c/o 2009) as a METCO student, excelling in football and track. Following a successful high school career, I went on to play WR at Bentley University (c/o 2013), experiencing success in my sophomore and junior years as a role player within a spread offense. My passion for the Hands Team was born in my senior season where I fell short of my own performance goals, an experience that motivated me to ensure that every athlete I work with will be prepared to seize their opportunity. After graduating college in 2013, I began privately training WRs. I spent six years honing my skills before establishing the IOFC Hands Team in 2019.

My mission is to provide effective, receiver-focused training to elite pass catchers in the New England area. My philosophy is simple: Bet on yourself, put the work in consistently, and produce when your number is called.
